Health & Safety Guidelines for 2021-2022

Dear All Saints Catholic School Families,

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa has granted a temporary restraining order to the State of Iowa's current ban on school mask mandates.  This temporary restraining order was granted at the request of parents whose students are served with special education services in public schools across Iowa.  The court found that there was enough documentation that these students were denied their civil rights guaranteeing a free and appropriate public education(FAPE).

This temporary restraining order only addressed public school districts.  It did not provide Catholic Schools relief from House File 847. For the time being, Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Davenport will continue to comply with state law that prohibits accredited nonpublic schools from requiring mask mandates.

The Diocese of Davenport is continuing to consider possible courses of action.  While we are not applying a mask mandate at this time, we continue to support and promote strategies such as:

Continue to strongly encourage the use of masks or face shields in schools and on church property.

Strongly encourage frequent hand washing, cleaning, and disinfecting in our school.

Practice social distancing whenever possible.

Insist that those who feel ill stay home from school.

Monitor the public health situation and consult with local medical experts.

Let us pray for an end to this pandemic, to extend charity to those with whom we disagree, and to do our part to contribute to the common good by helping to mitigate the risk of COVID-19.

God Bless You,

Jeanne Von Feldt
Principal All Saints Catholic School
